Farnborough Hill Website

Farnborough Hill School is one of the leading all girl schools in the UK. They teach girls aged from 3 all the way through to 18 and are renowned for their approach to a well-rounded education. They wanted a new website which reflected their historical and academic heritage.

The brief

Farnborough wanted a website which they could manage themselves with a brand new design that really engaged with parents, whilst also being a useful tool for current students and their families. A diverse content management system was needed to allow the school’s administrative team to upload pictures and text as and when required.

The website needed to be visually engaging and allow for plenty of content. Users should be able to sign in and those who wish to register to join the school’s online community can sign up and once approved be able to log in with their user name and password.

They also wanted to move their current website content across to their new site so as not to lose all of the information.

The solution

We built a visually powerful website that delivered all the requirements specified and more. The site was designed and created using the commercial CMS, Sitefinity, allowing us to build additional modules able to re-size uploaded images automatically. By using Sitefinity we were able to allow for this CMS to integrate with Sharepoint, the system used by the Farnborough Hill Trust.

Technical notes

The site was built with the Sitefinity CMS, using C# and SQL Server 2008 R2. The award-winning Sitefinity allows administrators to have complete control over the page content.

Alberon also built several custom modules which were easily integrated within the Sitefinity system.
