The Vincent Wildlife Trust
The Vincent Wildlife Trust is a mammal conservation charity. They needed a new website with enhanced functionality that reflected their reputation as a serious mammal research and survey charity.
The Brief
The Trust needed a website with a brand new design that reflected the new direction of their corporate identity.
They needed a top quality content management system that allowed content to be easily updated. The system needed to be as future-proof as possible allowing for further development as the Trust’s work evolves. The navigation needed to be simple to use and intuitive with key information easy to find and clutter-free pages.
The Vincent Wildlife Trust had multiple websites, such as the Pine Marten site, that they wanted to consolidate under one roof and each project that the Trust was involved with could be a sub site of the main website. All websites managed by the Trust needed to be updated within the one system and share a common look and feel whilst maintaining a distinct identity.
The new site needed to feature a blog which would be used for latest news and other articles of interest. These blog posts could be incorporated into the homepage, along with latest tweets to keep the content fresh and the site optimised.
The Solution
We delivered a unique and visually engaging design that placed emphasis on the serious nature of the Trust’s conservation work.
Due to the high level of functionality and control needed, we recommended Sitefinity as the CMS most suitable for their requirements. This system has a fantastic user interface that is simple to use allowing users to create and edit pages, upload documents and add text and images quickly without needing previous technical knowledge. Updating news items and adding blog posts can be easily done by the Trust themselves.
As the Trust has a number of free resources, primarily documents, we created a “Free downloads” section so people could view online as well as download these resources.
Technology
The website was built in the latest release Sitefinity CMS 4.2 which delivers the most advanced web content management system while maintaining an extreme focus on usability and productivity. It is an ASP.NET CMS in C# and uses SQL Server 2008 R2 as a backend database to store all data. Alberon created several custom-built modules and widgets.
