Looking after client relationships and projects with a particular focus on online marketing / social media / SEO / usability.
Alberon is a thriving software development company. We build websites and software applications and we work with a range of companies, charities and other organisations, mostly in the Oxford area. We’re looking for a dynamic and effective digital account manager with a range of skills and interests to join our team of 12 people in central Oxford.
We’re looking for a dynamic, engaging individual to take on overall responsibility for a number of key client accounts. You must be an excellent communicator and good at building rapport. You must be knowledgeable and enthusiastic about how we can use the web to help our clients to develop their businesses. You need to be a team player with a “can-do” attitude who can build strong relationships with our clients and with the talented people we have at Alberon.
Ideally you will have a strong interest in the web and online marketing – see below.
What the job involves
You’ll be involved in the following areas:
You’ll be involved with new clients and existing ones.
You’ll work closely with our existing senior account manager and will be fully involved in the new business / sales process. This will involve meeting prospective new clients, getting to know them and their businesses, and understanding their needs so we can work out the best way to help them.
Once work is agreed you’ll continue to work closely with the clients and also with the rest of the Alberon team to deliver the agreed solutions.
There will also be the opportunity to work with existing clients. A website is never finished and there are always things that can be done to improve it. An important part of your role will be to work with our existing clients and helping them to get more value from their websites through better use of online marketing, social media and SEO. In doing this you’ll work closely with our design and development teams.
Sometimes clients come to us, sometimes we go to them, and so you need to be able to get around and to be willing to attend some meetings on client sites. Most of our clients are local (within 30 minutes drive), although they can be further afield (rarely more than 90 minutes drive).
Although project management is not the central part of the role, some project management will be needed to ensure that things get done as agreed in a timely way, and that clients are kept informed of what is happening.
You need to be knowledgeable about and interested in how websites can communicate key messages and help promote a business. You need to be passionate about how online marketing can be used to take a business forward.
It’s essential for you to be a good communicator. You’ll help the Head of Marketing to keep the case studies and news sections of our website up-to-date and to improve how we talk about what we do on our website, in our email communications and in print. There could also be the opportunity to attend local networking events, to build relationships with potential clients and partner companies.
Technical IT skills are not a requirement, however you need to be comfortable and fluent with IT, and enthusiastic about how it can be used to can help businesses to be more efficient and more successful.
Dynamic small business environment
In a small business there is the need for every member of staff to be flexible and willing to get involved in doing different things. We’re looking for someone who understands this and who this appeals to.
For the right person there is the opportunity to develop this role into one in which you play a key role within the business as we grow and develop over the next few years.
Ideally we are looking for someone to work full-time, based in our offices near the centre of Oxford. This role could suit a smart graduate looking for their first full-time job. It could also suit someone who’s been working in this area for a year or two, or someone with more experience. We’re happy to receive applications from people who have relevant other experience which they can bring to this role.
The office is in central Oxford within walking distance of public transport. Unusually for Oxford, there is parking as well.
Hours: 37 per week. We’re quite flexible about working hours, within reason. Part time working may be possible.
Salary: £24,000 – £30,000 depending on experience.
Holiday entitlement: 20 days, plus bank holidays.
